Timing

One of the most profound movie scenes I have ever seen is the one in Dil Chahtha Hai when Aamir Khan and Preity Zinta come running down the stairs to catch a subway train, and Aamir gets in the train but by the time Preity approaches, the door of the train closes and the train starts off agonisingly, leaving her alone in the station.

A magnified observation of this scene in Life's broader terms speaks of a number of things:
- Of the cliche : So near, yet so far.

- Of the cliche : There's many a slip between the cup and the lip.
- Of the effort of running towards the train, going in vain.
- Of the No-it-cant-be-happening look on your face.
- Of the desperate attempt to open the door which just doesnt budge.
- Of the futile effort of running beside the train hoping it would stop and doors would open.
- Of the painful thought of opportunity slipping away from fingers.
- Of the embarassment of having not been on time.
- Of people inside the train staring at you helplessly.
- Of some others smilingly as if you were Scapegoat-of-the-Day.
- Of the feeling of being drenched in a bucketful of ice cold water of Failure.
- Of the feeling that the Almighty is rolling on floor with laughter, pointing at you.
- Of what a fool you have made of yourself.
- Of the despondency that hits you when you realise that actually you lost against Time.
- Of the emptiness one feels when the train goes out of sight.

Life has a lousy sense of timing.

That said by you! I think more Indian!...Imagine this happening in Indian Railways!

An adventurous experience that seems to happen everyday so often that we find it so normal in Life's broader terms.
I see a number of funny things:

- Of the cliche : So late, yet the trains here.
- Of the cliche : There's many a slip between the cup and the lip; but most of the time we get the coffee( read train)
- Of the effort of running towards the train, going in vain.( Must practice FOOTBOARDING technique)
- Of the Yes-i-can-catch-it-no-matter-if-i-am-late confidence on your face.( Remember Kajol n SRK in DDLJ!)
- Of the desperate attempt to hold the bar near the door to jump up and alight.( Needs a lot of practice...Try BMTC :-))
- Of the adventurous mindset waiting for the train to start running so as to try some train hopping coz the doors are wide open.
- Of the painful thought of opportunity slipping away from fingers.(I guess the cement platform ended b4 you alighted!)
- Of the embarassment of having not been on time and still finding that the train is arriving later than you!.
- Of people inside the train staring at you helplessly.( No I cant leave this seat, no matter how tired or old you are)
- Of some others smilingly as if you were Scapegoat-of-the-Day.( It must be Scapegoat of all times)
- Of the feeling of being drenched in a bucketful of hot sweat in your favourite outfit while going for an interview.
- Of the feeling that the Almighty is rolling on floor with laughter, pointing at you.( almighty-Railway minister!)
- Of what an Heroic feeling you get thinking of yourself footboarding.
- Of the despondency that hits you when you realise that actually you lost against Time and the sudden realization that it was a late train that you were not supposed to catch!
- Of the emptiness one feels when the train goes out of sight...and the happiness that you catch it again tomorrow in the same HEROIC way!

Life has a lousy sense of timing and a great sense of humour.

Life is adventure with a smile. Have pain but still you gain!

NOTE: I must appreciate Harshas' unique thinking...but my response to his blog only denotes my lighter side...the humour in me.

Too often you get to miss a train like the one in DCH..that too with a beautiful gal like preity...So i choose to admit the truth...the way its in India everyday :-)
